An Open Letter To My Best Friend Before Her Wedding Day (1)

Themocracy

To the beautiful bride-to-be,

Congratulations! The day you've been dreaming about is almost here. In a few short days, you will say "I do" to the man of your dreams and will start the next chapter of your life as a married woman. You'll have him to wake up to every morning and fall asleep next to every night. You'll have someone to go on adventures with on random weekends when staying home doesn't feel like an option. You'll get to experience some of the best moments in life with him, such as traveling to different places, getting pregnant, and growing old together. God has led you here, and He's giving you one of the best gifts of your life: unwavering, steadfast, till-death-do-you-part love. Let that sink in. Celebrate it. Don't let any pre-wedding jitters keep you from experiencing the fullness of your joy.

I know that you are a bundle of nerves right now. You are excited to be marrying the love of your life, nervous that you might not be the perfect wife you always wanted to be, and overwhelmed with love for your soon-to-be husband. You want to relax and just enjoy your wedding day, one of the most important days of your life, but you are still a little concerned that something might go wrong. Don't be. Take a deep breath, sit back, and trust that you've surrounded yourself with a team of people who will do whatever it takes to make your special day one to remember. You've got your girls by your side, and we've got this. As for me, I'm prepared for almost anything. Need an emergency sewing kit? I'm your girl. Forgot to pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, or any other essential toiletries? I've got you covered. Need some food to keep your energy up? Look no further than my purse. I will think of everything so that all you have to worry about is looking lovely on your big day (which, let's be honest, you've already got covered).

If you're concerned about how marriage will change your relationship, remember that your love has grown exponentially since the day you first looked him in the eyes and said "I love you". Every lazy afternoon spent watching Netflix on the couch, every trip to Walmart, every date night out, and every moment spent in each other's arms has led you to this love you're feeling now. This comfortable, intimate bond between you will increase day by day. Sure, you will also experience some difficult times, but you will have your man by your side through all of it, and your love will only grow stronger through the storms.

Getting to be your bridesmaid has been such a thrilling and rewarding process. Watching you glow with excitement since the day you got engaged (and even before then) has probably been the best part. I've loved all our conversations about wedding planning and preparations. I can't wait for my own happily ever after (whenever that will be), and I'm so glad I get to celebrate yours. Thank you for including me in this special day, and thank you for all the love you have shown me over the years. I am so blessed to know you, and I am even more blessed to watch you walk down the aisle and know that the man you're standing next to will be there for you through everything.

God has been so good to the both of you by bringing you together. I pray that, as a wedded team, you will receive the fullness of God's blessings and the outpouring of His love. May He never stop revealing Himself to you.

Your friend and loyal bridesmaid,

Bethany

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

The people that spend their summers at the lake are a unique group of people.

Whether you grew up going to the lake, have only recently started going, or have only been once or twice, you know it takes a certain kind of person to be a lake person. To the long-time lake people, the lake holds a special place in your heart, no matter how dirty the water may look.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
