How to make homemade hot chocolate in just 10 minutes and make Santa happy this year.

Best Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe (1)

Hey Foodies,

Are you ready for Santa this Christmas?

As for me, I’ve been a good girl this year so he’d better come loaded with gifts, or else… 🙂

And to show him what a good girl I was (and still am), I am going to wait for him with a big cup of my best homemade hot chocolate.

Hear that, Santa?

There’s a mug with creamy hot chocolate waiting for you under my tree. So be sure to check off my Christmas list, ok?!

You know those Louis Vuitton bags, new SUV and the penthouse that I always dreamed about, right?!

Make sure you check those off of my list and in return you are going to get the best hot chocolate ever.

Sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?

Now that I’ve told Santa what I am expecting of him (which is not much at all, right?), I need to tell you a little secret.

You can make this easy hot chocolate recipe in just 10 minutes.

This way, you too can ‘convince’ Santa to check off your Christmas list. I know it sounds more like a bribe but hey, if that’s what it takes…

Other recipes that go perfectly with homemade hot chocolate:

  • Banana Bread
  • Banana Oatmeal Pancakes
  • Pumpkin Spice Pancakes
  • Oatmeal Choc Chip Cookies

But before showing you how to make hot chocolate at home, I would like to cover an interesting topic about it.

It’s actually a question that a lot of foodies have and I would like to discuss it.

Is hot chocolate good for you?

Best Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe (3)

We might be tempted to say that everything tasty and delicious has already been deemed unhealthy by our food authorities.

So we can assume that’s the case for hot chocolate too.

But I’ve got some news for you. In fact, I’ve got some amazing news.

Homemade hot chocolate is actually good for you. And I am not just making this up because I am a chocoholic.

Researchers at Cornell University found that the antioxidant concentration in hot chocolate is nearly twice as good as red wine, almost three times better than green tea, and nearly five times stronger than even black tea! (see source)

Hence, it ranks higher than wine and tea in heart-healthy diets category.

And there’s more.

One cup of hot chocolate has 611 milligrams of gallic acid which is used for treating diabetes, kidney disease, and internal hemorrhages.

Pretty impressive, huh?

Here are its key benefits:

  • It has a high antioxidant concentration which is good for the heart.
  • Contains gallic acid which is used to treat diabetes, kidney disease, and internal hemorrhages.
  • It is rich in flavanols which improve heart functioning and reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Best Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe (5)

By now you are probably rushing to your nearest coffee store to load up on hot choc.

But hold on a second because there is a catch.

In order to make it healthy and have control over the ingredients, you need to make your own hot chocolate with cocoa powder.

And not just any store-bought powder. If you want it healthy, you need to make your hot chocolate with unsweetened raw cocoa powder.

Most pre-made hot chocolate mixes don’t have the same benefits because they are highly processed and contain unhealthy ingredients.

You will see that I used brown sugar and regular milk in this recipe.

I don’t consider them harmful, but I know some of you are not a hundred percent ok with them, so you can replace these with honey, maple syrup, stevia extract, and non-dairy milk.

It’s going to come out just as good and you can rest assured that it is 100% healthy by any standards.

Of course, you will need to take the whipped cream out if you are aiming for that 100% healthy.

Best Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe (6)

So this easy hot chocolate is not just delicious but it’s also healthy.

Now that’s what will really impress Santa and make him bring you those long-awaited gifts.

And the best thing is that you can make it in just 10 minutes.

So you don’t need to make it only for holidays. You can even replace your morning coffee or tea with it. After all, research shows it is healthier than both.

But let’s not waste any more time and just make it.
