Why wasn't Demián Bichir in The Nun 2? ›

It's possible that Valak caused Father Burke to fall ill between the events of The Nun and The Nun 2. Demián Bichir has been busy with other projects since The Nun, including The Grudge, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Let the Right One In.

As part of The Conjuring Universe, The Nun includes true-story connections that make the movie more disturbing. Based on the experience of real-life demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring Universe tells stories purported as real-life horrors with a supernatural connection.

There were a couple scenes with blood, a person burning alive, and some demonic nun attacks (with that also demonic goat chasing after them). Personally for me, it didn't feel like it was R-rated worthy violence. Sure there's a couple of bloody, intense moments here and there but nothing excessive or over-the-top.

This film is probably scary for impressionable teenagers, because it certainly isn't for mature audiences. There are descriptions of suicide, lots of blood, slashed skin, stabbing, dead bodies, burning bodies, a man is buried alive (but escapes), shooting, demonic possession and all that stuff.

No, the movie disappoints. The story is basic, the timing of humor is laughable and the excessive amount of screentime - for that which petrified us with hardly any in the Conjuring movies - makes the Nun into something we hoped it wouldn't be.

After The Nun 2 brought back Taissa Farmiga, the relationship between Sister Irene and Lorraine Warren was finally revealed. The two are not the same person, and they might not even be sisters. However, the movie reveals that Sister Irene and Lorraine Warren are from the same bloodline.

Valak appears in multiple forms throughout the Conjuring movies, mainly taking the shape of a Catholic nun with eerie features. However, it has also appeared as the Crooked Man and its original form, Valak the Defiler.

However, with “The Nun II,” it feels as if the writers really did try to make a better and scarier experience. Most of the jump scares in “The Nun” were laughable and predictable. In “The Nun II” however, there are one or two that really make you jump. The use of CGI isn't too overt.

The Nun 2 introduces a new relic to the Conjuring Universe: the Eyes of Saint Lucy, hidden in the school's chapel. Saint Lucy was a martyr who was burned at the stake by Protestants and had her eyes gouged out. Her eyes were imbued with divine power, and Valak sought them to become unstoppable.

A terrifying showdown between good and evil ensues during which Valak ends up with the eyes and uses their power to lift Irene into the air and set her aflame. But Irene won't burn, revealing that she is also a descendant of St. Lucy.
